Book Review: The Namesake

The Namesake The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri

My review

rating: 5 of 5 stars
I didn’t know I loved this book until I finished it moments ago. While I enjoyed the family saga from page one, I felt like I was drowning in the details of every train ride, meal, party, relationship…And then it became abundantly clear that the details WERE the saga, and they mattered. I found it particularly interesting that Gogol remained Gogol throughout the book in the narrator’s voice, a significant detail that was not lost on me. What an incredibly introspective and complex character he was, drawing the reader in with every leap of success and trip of disappointment.
