I STILL hate business-speak…cliches…

Interesting blog post from Seth Godin yesterday: The Encyclopedia of Business Cliches.

The few people who actually mean it when they use clichés are now frustrated because no one believes them any more. The entire lexicon is discredited.

The “Encyclopedia” itself is interesting to peruse. It even accepts contributions and votes. Of course I’ll be casting my vote for “At the end of the day…” so you know where my loyalties are!

On the other hand, the vast majority of buzzwords exist for one reason: to hide. By obfuscating, lying, confusing or just plain avoiding the issue, business people can avoid communicating. Do you have the guts to stop using cliches?

Amen, Seth.
