I am old enough to remember President Ford being in office, but not old enough to remember anything about him. But hey, he was our oldest living president until he died Tuesday at the respectable age of 93. So it’s appropriate to pay homage to him as he holds a place in history that means almost nothing to me.
In my spare surfing time today, I came across a blog that listed one man’s top 20 stupid Republican quotes of all time (he keeps a notebook in which there are hundreds).
Number 12 came from our esteemed President Ford as he attempted to stabilize the country in the wake of Nixon’s resignation following the Watergate debacle. It would seem strangely appropriate to spotlight this particular quote upon Ford’s death:
“If Lincoln were alive today, he’d be turning over in his grave.” —Gerald Ford
Rest in Peace, Mr. Ford.
